NITROUS OXIDE GAS PLANT

NitrousOxide Gas Plant

NitrousOxide Gas Plant

KVK NitrousOxide Plant or laughinggas plant is manufactured under strict supervision of experienced engineers, which is not only safe to operate but also economical, as it consumes less power and material. The gas manufactured conforms to Indian pharmacopeia and is stored in liquid nitrousoxide plant, which can be directly filled into cylinders.

Special features of KVK NitrousOxide Plant
  • Electrically heated pots with temperature Controllers.
  • Purification system for removal of impurities.
  • Regeneration facility.
  • Laboratory and quality control.
  • Equipment safety systems.
Consumables
  • Ammonium Nitrate
  • Electric power – 100 HP.
  • Water cooling facility
  • Good quality water supply.

Process Description
NitrousOxide is produced by heating Ammonium Nitrate to a temperature of approx. 250 deg.c. Ammonium Nitrate is decomposed in the process to give a mixture of NitrousOxide and super heated steam. Impurities include Ammonium Nitrate fumes, Nitrogen and other oxides of Nitrogen. The steam and impurities are removed by scrubbing with water, caustic soda and sulfuric acid. Nitrogen present in traces is removed by bleeding from the top of storage vessels, where NitrousOxide in liquid state is stored after compression.

Properties of NitrousOxide
NitrousOxide is a chemical compound of Nitrogen and Oxygen. Its chemical name is N2O.
It is a colourless, non flammable, nontoxic gas with slightly sweetish taste and odour. Well-known method of distributing NitrousOxide is as compressed liquid in cylinders of approved design.
It keeps combustion, therefore organic oils and greases of petrochemical nature be kept away from NitrousOxide gas.
Uses of NitrousOxide Gas
Nitrousoxide gas is mainly used for anesthetic purposes. It is also used as carrier gas, propellant for aerosols and food stuff.
